snap crackle and pop battery update!

a few weeks ago i posted about one of my NiMH battery packs making a funny noise while charging. since then i have discovered that this has not effected the run time, charging heat or post use heat of the pack. the batteries have had extensive use since then with no problems at all. looks like maybe the internet was right and its just the batteries venting... who knows but my mind is at ease now.

that said im currently looking for a brushless setup and also converting to running hard case LiPo's.

oops!

so yesterday morning i picked up my wallet and was surprised to find £80 tucked away in it. after a couple hours of thinking and racking my brains i couldn't think of anything it could be for. BOOM! ebay....

5 minutes later i have many many new bits for the drifter on the way and im back to being broke.
roll on april so my holidays out the way and i can start spending again.

holidays require money for spends and travel and if its your first time, a passport..... passport.... a passport that costs almost £80............. SHIT!!

Snap crackle and pop!

No, this isn't an advert for breakfast cereal, this is a post about my battery packs. A few days ago, after a "sick" rc drift session at the local multi-storey I went home and put the car away for the night. Next day I get my battery packs out and put them on charge, a few hours later as one of the Batteries lit up green to show it was charged I walked over to sap the battery for a flat one and noticed it was making a hissing and popping sound. Now, the Internet says this is natural and fine but I was abit suspicious of this so I took the battery out side and left it for a few hours. I went back to it later that night and checked for leaks or cracks and all was fine. I plugged it into the car and it worked fine! Confused much! I have no idea what happened but I'm going to keep an eye on that pack and check run times to see what affect this has had on performance.

Peace!

New budget radio gear!

Last weekend I managed to destroy the standard transmitter for my rc drifter so I spent a few hours looking for something cheap to replace it and finally decided on the FS GT3B package. First impressions are good for a budget radio set if not a little heavy on the batteries which is quite likely the fault of the MASSIVE back lit screen. Expect a full review within the next few days! Peace!

addictive!

so, a few days after rediscovering my love of rc drifting i introduced my friend to it. we used a few batteries up in an empty school yard just seeing how close to the curb we could get while yelling "RUN THE WALL MOTHER FUCKER!". a few days goes by and my friend starts thinking about buying a drifter. after a few days of debating and me nagging he finally decided on buying an ftx banzai. since then we've spent every night at the local multi story drifting around cans and bottles and generally having a laugh. we both upgraded our cars with hpi 15t firebolt motors and hpi sc-15wp esc's, destroyed a few body shells and crashed into everything in sight but i think we are actually improving! practice practice practice......
